Next generation biofuels have a significant role to play in the decarbonization of our economy. COMSYN project aims to bring the biofuel production costs down with intensified process technologies.
COMSYN target is a next generation biofuel that is 35% cheaper to produce than alternatives. Read how we'll do it!
Read more about the projectCOMSYN, or Compact Gasification and Synthesis process for Transport Fuels, is an EU funded international project with partners from Finland, Germany, Czech Republic and Italy. COMSYN is Compact as we develop modern, intensified reactors, which have high production rate compared to equipment size. Gasification is our process of choice for the initial biomass transformation to a gas stream. Synthesis we use to convert the gas stream to hydrocarbons, which we upgrade in an oil refinery to Transport Fuels.
COMSYN technology is the next step towards competitive low carbon energy solutions for the sustainable future!
We joined our minds and forces with 7 partners all over EU. This combination of multidisciplinary research crew ensures the best possible outcome of the project!
Get to know our partnersGlobal greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have been growing exponentially for the past 60 years mainly because of the use of fossil fuels: oil, coal and natural gas. Transport sector is one of the largest GHG sources. CO2-neutral biofuels are one solution to reduce emissions. The goal of the COMSYN project is a biofuel production process that has lower investment and operation costs than previously developed technologies. This way we can cut the emissions in transport sector dramatically.
